Zara grounds her lived experience as a young racialized woman on unceded traditional Lekwungen Peoples territory. Her interests lay in the multiple intersections for racial justice, youth leadership and community building. She is dedicated to building community connections, engaging in co-creation and deepening a continuous learning journey. She is the Youth Director of her local mosque, a member of Vancouver Foundations LEVEL advisory, Vice-President of UVic’s Muslim Student Association and an advisor for Platform, a civic leadership platform for Black, Indigenous, and racialized young women and gender-diverse people. Zara is the lead for TIP’s youth engagement priorities, including youth-informed frameworks for racial, gender and climate equity, intergenerational partnerships and capacity development.
